Day 2: AMNH

I'm obviously having too much fun to regularly post, so here we are, still back on Thursday - day 2 of our trip. The biggest part of our day was spent at the American Museum of Natural History (AMNH). The main entrance on Central Park West was flanked by two pine dinosaurs holding wreaths, a nice sciency way to decorate for the holidays.

We actually started our visit at the Rose Center for Earth and Space, which is a large glass building with a Death Star-esque sphere in the center. The sphere is actually the Hayden Planetarium, where we saw the Cosmic Collisions show. What I learned: our galaxy is a spectacularly violent place.

After the show we wandered through the rest of the museum, which houses an extensive collection of reconstructed dinosaur fossils, stuffed animals form around the world and probably lots of other things we didn't have time to see.

To be continued . . .
