Today's flower is the prickly pear cactus, which blooms in many colors. The photos were taken the last week in April at the Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden in Claremont.
The prickly pear cactus is also delicious: you can use the chopped up pads - nopales - in burritos, egg dishes or salads, and the fruit makes lovely candy and jelly.
