I picked my first summer veggies today - some lovely lemon cucumbers! They get their name from their color and shape. Inside they aren't much different from the long green variety - maybe a bit sweeter, and they have no trace of bitterness.
They were produced by three plants I've been growing in a 14-inch-square wooden planter. There are still lots of blossoms and baby fruit on the plants, so I'm hoping to have a steady stream of cukes all summer.Tags: cucumbers, vegetables
