Color Matters

I was doing a little work in the yard and I spotted a bright green grasshopper that stood out like a sore thumb on a dead shrub. I've been trying to learn to take better photos, so I went and got my camera. It forced me to take a real closer look, and I was surprised by what I saw. How many grasshoppers do you see in these photos (click for larger images)?

I never would have noticed the beige grasshopper (which was definitely alive and hopping) if I hadn't been peering so closely to frame my photos. It makes me wonder what other critters that have been right under my nose that I've completely overlooked.

Wow, really beautiful photos. I love the curles on the dried plant, and how it is monochromatic vs the green grass hoppper.

Thanks Bri, these were the best of a bunch I took. It's hard to get close up and in focus.

I notice bugs. For some reason, as a kid I was very aware of that world underneath my feet, underneath the leaves, etc. They are everywhere, believe me.

Peg, are you sure that that beige one is alive and not a figment of your imagination?

You're close-ups are really good and I love the sunlit leaves. Very artistic!

Thanks for sharing.

The brown guy was alive, I swear! I'm pretty sure he hopped off the bush and started nibbling my basil.
Those are some very dramatic pictures. The contrast is really striking.
