Spend an Afternoon at the (Virtual) British Library

The British Library is a repository for rare and wonderful books. Turning the Pages is an electronic library of 15 of the books. They didn't take the simple route and simply placed scanned images online. Instead, they opted to use an interface that gives a number of bonus features.

For example, Mozart's music composition diary is enhanced by an audio description about Mozart's life, as well as music samples. Other works include Lewis Carrol's handwritten and illustrated version of "Alice's Adventures Underground", the notebooks of Leonardo Da Vinci, Mercator's original Atlas of Europe, and many others from around the world.

The only drawback is that the features require Shockwave and seem to take a long time to load.
