Why Words Hurt

The current issue of Forbes magazine has a series of interesting articles and interviews on communicating. In one interview, Jane Goodall explains that words hurt in part because "it is much harder to forget a word than it is a slap."

Check out the other articles on a number of interesting topics, including planetary communication (by Arthur C. Clarke), whether chimps can talk, using DNA for storing messages to be read in a million years, and "Ten Things You Communicate Unintentially". There are also interviews with Kurt Vonnegut, Studs Turkel, Stan Lee, Walter Cronkite and others. Definitely worth your reading time.
