On their recent trip to New Zealand*, mom and dad met the Hawaiian guitarist Kapono Beamer. Kapono's web site has some nice clips from his recent albums (RealAudio). His style is pretty laid back, invoking a lazy day on the beach. I especially like "Ka Lele O Pueo" and "Bullah Ilio". Unfortunately, there are no full songs.
