I've Seen Fire . . .

GeoMAC ("Geospatial Multi-Agency Coordination") Wildland Fire support has a wildland fire mapping service that shows the location of current (and, if desired, historical) wildfires. You can either zoom in on the area of interested, or use the "Jump to Wildfire:" menu in the upper right corner. (Note that it loads very slowly, probably because the site is experiencing "millions of hits")

For comparison, the California Mountain Area Safety Taskforce (CalMAST) has a site with information about the devastating 2003 fires in San Bernardino, Riverside and San Diego Counties. Hopefully, this won't have to be updated for 2005.
