Empty Your Piggy Bank and Get Books!

We all probably have a bowl, bank or pile with loose miscellaneous change around the house. Or maybe you have loose change in your pocket. One way of reducing the number of coins is to use one of those "Coinstar" machines, typically found in supermarkets or drug stores. You put the coins in, and, for a (hefty) fee, you get bills in return.

Lifehacker reports that those Coinstar machines have a new feature: they will issue Amazon.com gift certificates. The nice twist is that there is no fee - all of your money goes towards the certificate. The catch? There is a $5 minimum, and the certificates must be used within two years.

Check out Lifehacker for suggestions for putting your certificates to good use.
