GIMP Savvy is a copyright-free photo archive. Most of the photos are from US goverment sources such as NASA, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the Fish and Wildlife Service.
Other goverment agencies with copyright-free photo archives are the USGS and the USDA.The Bureau of Land Management also had photos on-line, but their web site is currently undergoing renovations.
