Free courses from the CIA

No, you won't learn how to be a spy.

These are on-line food and cooking courses from the Culinary Institute of America in Napa.

The current free courses are "The Professional Chef Discovers Contemporary Flavors with California Raisins" and "A Taste of Wine Online".

I've been going through the raisins course and it offers interesting information, as well as a variety of different recipes.

You need RealPlayer to watch the accompanying videos. The information page indicates that Internet Explorer is required, but I have had no problem using Safari.

I'm not sure how much fun the wine tasting course would be without the wines on hand, but it is probably worth checking out.
