Beauty in Destruction

Most of the images on TV showing the effects of Hurricane Katrina emphasize her destructive power: flooded streets, broken windows, blown off roofs. As a nice contrast, a number of people have uploaded photos to Flickr showing quiet and even beautiful moments among the chaos.

Here are some of my favorites:

Outer bands of Katrina in Lafayette, Louisiana (by mycomputerman)
Lubricants and flower break (by cyrenaic)
Frog and deck (by Tiswango)
Hypnotized (by aroid)

(note that these were taken either before the storm, or more on the periphery of the storm in Florida, rather than the hard hit areas in Louisiana or Mississippi)
